Apple Vision Pro: Envisioning Future Growth in Surgery, Training, and Education
Apple is set to launch its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset on Feb. 2 and is already considering potential applications in surgery, aircraft repair, and education.
Mike Rockwell, the vice president in charge of the device, believes it could improve patient outcomes by consolidating surgeons' displays.
Apple employees will receive a 25% discount on the Vision Pro, reducing the cost to around $2,600 (excluding taxes and options).
Dave Scott and Yaniv Gur, two of Rockwell's lieutenants, are investigating new enterprise and education applications for the headset.
Success of the Vision Pro will depend on third-party developers, and Apple has already lined up content from many big entertainment providers.
Netflix, Spotify, and Google's YouTube do not plan to offer Vision Pro apps for their services.
Apple hopes the headset's groundbreaking technology will help win converts, and it's positioning the device as a tool for productivity and high-end entertainment.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 INDEX, NASDAQ Composite Index, and S&P/TSX Composite Index have all seen gains. The S&P/BMV IPC and Ibovespa Brasil Sao Paulo Stock Exchange Index have seen mixed results.
