Musk's xAI Raises $500M Toward $1B Funding Goal, Aiming for $15B to $20B Valuation
Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, has secured $500 million in commitments from investors towards a $1 billion goal.
The company is discussing a valuation of $15 billion to $20 billion.
xAI's product, a chatbot named Grok, is developed using social media posts on X, which Musk also owns.
Those who backed Musk’s $44 billion takeover of Twitter are expected to be the main investors in xAI.
Musk said in November that equity investors in X will own 25% of xAI.
Some parties are evaluating whether they can get computing power in addition to or instead of xAI equity shares.
Musk and investors are expected to finalize terms in the next couple of weeks.
Musk denied the report, calling it "fake news."
